ANNUAL BANQUET OF

HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI
The Alumni association of the Altamont High school held its fifteenth annual reunion and dinner at the Lutheran church hall Monday evening, June 25th. The reunion was the only event of commencement week of the High school, there being no graduating class at the school this year. The affair was very well attended, nearly seventy members and guests being present, and was a success in every way.

THOMPSON’S LAKE

Wild strawberries are very abundant in this vicinity.

GUILDERLAND CENTER

Extensive alterations are being made to the hotel property at the railroad station. A two-story extension of 22x30 is being built on the west side with a large veranda. Charles H. Lape has charge of the carpenter work. Martin and Armstrong, of Altamont, are doing the painting.

DORMANSVILLE

Harry La Grange had a narrow escape from drowning Saturday night while in swimming. He was taken with cramps. Charles Bates went to his assistance, only to go down twice with La Grange. Dory Applebee, after a hard struggle, managed to get them out.

SOUTH BERNE

Our ever growing and popular store owned by Charles Onderdonk has added an ice cream and soft drink parlor to his business. Needless to add, it certainly is making a hit.

WESTERLO

A very swift and interesting game of base ball was played Saturday afternoon between the single and married men of Westerlo. Score as 18 to 25 in favor of the married men.

Firemen Have Completed

Plans for Their Field Day

The Delmar Firemen have completed arrangements for the big field day on July 4. In the morning athletic sports of all kinds. At one o’clock a big parade with prizes for decorated automobiles, bicycles, baby carriages, etc.; a ball game followed by patriotic speeches and a dance in the evening. This will be a regular old-time Fourth to which every one is invited to come.

BI-COUNTY FAIR BOARD

TAKES PROGRESSIVE STEP

The board of directors of the Albany-Schenectady county fair at their last meeting made several important changes.
The one that stands out as the most progressive, and one that calls for everybody to put their shoulder to the wheel to make it a success, is the making of the poultry exhibit a local one. In other words, this department is open only to residents of Albany and Schenectady counties. This means the elimination of the professional exhibitor who comes from some other part of the state with such an exhibit as to not only carry off a large percentage of the premiums offered but the fact of his being an exhibitor discourages many local breeders from bringing their birds to the fair.

The board is taking this step to encourage the raising of more and better poultry in the two counties. The responsibility for a good exhibit is now up to every one who is at all interested in poultry.
