Local Boy Makes Good

With W. T. Grant Co.

The Tampa (Florida) Sunday Tribune in a recent issue contained the following article concerning an Altamont boy, which will be interesting to readers of the Enterprise:
“Ernest E. Rau, a young executive of the W. T. Grant company, is a splendid example of the opportunities for young men of the right caliber of character and ambition to succeed in the business world.

“Mr. Rau is at the head of the following departments: Hair goods, leather goods, infants’ wear, auto supplies, books, and men’s hosiery. He was born in Altamont, N. Y., and received a public school education, graduating from the high school of that place. His ambition to become identified with mercantile life prompted his acceptance of a position with W. T. Grant company of Schenectady, N. Y., and after applying himself with a degree of efficiency that gave his services recognition by the management of the store, he was promoted to the connection he now holds.

“The books department is particularly interesting to him and he is rapidly building up a book business that is increasing in volume of sales daily. The stock comprises popular copyrights of lighter reading which include stories depicted on the screen.

“Mr. Rau is delighted with Tampa, and he hopes to grow in usefulness with the development of the community, and be counted on as a constructive citizen of the highest type.”

Ernest’s friends in Altamont and vicinity will be pleased to hear of the success which he is at training in business, and will join in extending best wishes to him. He has been with the W. T. Grant company less than two years.
