Mrs. Vattimo owes Amy Pokorny an apology

To the Editor:

For the past six months, I have frequently read letters submitted to The Enterprise, by Knox residents, faulting the prior town administration and/or the current town council.  Invariably, almost each of those letters at some point diverts to being a soap box expounding whatever regarding Knox  Supervisor Vasilios Lefkaditis.

A letter in last week’s Enterprise went a step further and turned into a rant about Amy Pokorny, erroneously accusing her of voting on a real property tax grievance matter presented to the Board of Assessment Review several years ago. It went on to say she should have recused herself from voting on the matter before the board.  This seems to be a deliberate attempt to smear or belittle Amy Pokorny

Grievance matters concerning real property tax assessments that are presented to the board of Assessment Review for the board’s consideration are voted upon only by members of that board and no one else.  Amy Pokorny is not and has never been a member of the Board of Assessment Review.

Mrs. Vattimo owes Amy an apology. If she was given that erroneous  information by someone else, then that individual also owes Amy an apology.

I agree that Knox residents deserve the best from our town government.  Making false accusations about a member of our town council does not make for better government nor does dwelling on the past in an effort to embellish the public/political persona of town Supervisor Lefkaditis.  There are better ways to achieve the best for all of us.
