If we all pitch in, we can all make a difference

To the Editor:
Voorheesville Friends of the Library needs your help!

As noted in a prior letter to the Enterprise editor, our Encore! Book shed has not yet opened [“Waiting for Encore! Books to open,” May 29, 2024].

We all know this is a well loved service to the community and many people enjoy not only donating, but purchasing books, puzzles, music and more.

Encore! is not a program paid for by the library.

Encore! Books is entirely staffed by volunteers. This and many other programs including, to name a few: The Youth Summer Reading program, the Junior Book Discussions, 3 Adult Book Discussions, Concerts and more, are all funded by Friends of the Library!

As a recent member of the board of FOL I have learned of the many expenses for programs at the library that are only offered because of the work and fundraising of the Friends.

We recently had four members tender their resignations, including the person who coordinated the Encore! Shed.

We need more volunteers on the board to help not only with Encore! but in other positions as well. If you are interested in being a volunteer please email us at: or leave your contact information with the library staff.

FOL is currently raising money to fund the expense of the badly needed new carpet throughout the library. Donations are now being accepted at the library, by mail and soon by credit card through our website.

If we all pitch in, we can all make a difference and keep all these valuable programs continuing at our wonderful library.
