Reidy engages and motivates people

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of the candidacy of Dustin Reidy, who is running for the Albany County Legislature, District 30, in the June 25 Democratic primary.

I have known Mr. Reidy since 2008, when we began working together for the Obama campaign and in registering voters. From the beginning, he impressed me with his strong leadership and organizing skills, his passion and energy, his commitment to the idea that we can make government and institutions more responsive to people’s needs, and his vision of what we can achieve by working together.

He has continued that commitment in his outreach and advocacy campaigns, helping people enroll under the Affordable Care Act, working to secure public school funding, and founding NY19 Votes to organize and train newly engaged activists.

A strong supporter of unions, he believes in the right of all workers to have a voice and to enjoy a decent standard of living. One of his particular strengths is his ability to engage and motivate people (like me) who ordinarily don’t become involved in politics.

I especially appreciate his commitment to protect our environment by developing sound environmental policy and initiatives, and his measured approach to development in order to keep our town of Guilderland prosperous and at the same time to maintain the quality of life here that all of us value so highly.

I am confident that Dustin Reidy will bring all of his strengths and experience to the Albany County Legislature, and that he will work tirelessly for the people in Albany County. That is why I intend to cast my vote for him on June 25.
