FEURA BUSH.

School will close this week with a picnic on the school grounds.

FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Altamont will celebrate Independence day this year in a fitting manner under the auspices of Noah Lodge No. 754, F. & A. M., who will have charge of the program. It is the intention to include in the celebration a parade of patriotic and business floats in the morning, followed by a field day of sports and games in the afternoon, with a display of fireworks and a moving picture show in the evening.

STATE ROAD SOUTH BERNE.

Hiram H. Willsie, aged 83, went fishing at Willsie Lake Decoration day, and caught a large mess of sunfish, bullheads and pickerel.

VILLAGE NOTES.

— G. Nelson Furbeck has taken the agency for the Curtis publications and is prepared to take subscriptions for the Ladies’ Home Journal, the Saturday Evening Post, and the Country Gentleman.

— Mr. and Mrs. Millard Cowan and daughter Jean, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Keenholts spent Decoration day on a trip to Cooperstown and Otsego lake. The stay at the lake was limited, as the trip took up nearly the entire time going and returning.

— Nathan Stafford, an old-time carpenter, living on state road at the western edge of the village, is suffering from a deranged mind and is practically helpless. He is confined to his bed and under the care of a physician. About 23 years ago he fell off a scaffold at the fair grounds and sustained severe injuries, which have since given him considerable trouble at times.

NEW SALEM — SOUTH END.

We are glad to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Howard Reamer to our neighborhood, and extend to them our congratulations and best wishes for a long and prosperous life.

THOMPSON’S LAKE.

— A party of Camp Fire girls from Schenectady, to the number of sixteen, came out last Thursday night to the girls’ summer camp and enjoyed a few days’ stay in the country. They returned to the city on Sunday. The party was composed of young girls, of 13 and 14 years of age. On Saturday afternoon they enjoyed a straw ride over the Helderbergs, and had a grand time, as they expressed it.

— The bungalow at the head of the Indian Ladder was broken into last Thursday night and a quantity of goods stolen. Mr. Smith, the proprietor, had just put in stock for Memorial day. It is too bad these miscreants can’t be caught and given the punishment they deserve.
