Many hands created memorable community event

To the Editor:

In a world where people live such separate lives, it was wonderful to come together for Memorial Day in the village of Voorheesville, to reconnect with neighbors and remember those who have given so much to protect our way of life. It takes many hands to create a memorable community event and we are so grateful for the commitment and generosity of those who did.

In particular, thanks go to the American Legion for the parade and post-parade festivities; Herb Reilly for organizing the races; the Voorheesville Fire Department for the evening food and music; and the supporters of the Jim Nichols Foundation, particularly Family Danz, who brought us the fireworks.

Our community is stronger for their efforts and happier too!
