Get free training to save a life

The community is invited to attend free lifesaving training in Westerlo. “Stop the Bleed” will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 9 a.m., hosted by the town of Westerlo and instructed by Albany County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Medical Services Unit.
This basic training is open to everyone.
The basic training is designed for anyone who wants to be prepared to help in an emergency, including civilians, medical professionals, school staff, coaches, students, and community members. Attendees will gain the confidence and skills needed to intervene and control bleeding effectively.
Some of the key aspects of “Stop the Bleed” training include:
— Recognition: Identifying signs of severe bleeding and understanding the urgency of the situation;
— Intervention: Learning practical techniques for controlling bleeding, including applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets;
— Empowerment: Building confidence and skills to act decisively in a bleeding emergency; and
— Resource Utilization: Learning how to access and use bleeding-control kits and other resources.
Attendees will learn crucial techniques to stop bleeding until medical professionals arrive, equipping themselves with lifesaving knowledge that can benefit the community in times of need, potentially saving lives.
