Tricia has been a vital conduit keeping our community informed

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Patricia Putman who is running for a position on the Voorheesville School Board.

Tricia is a close friend of mine and over the past several years we have worked together to provide educational programs for children at my family’s business, Indian Ladder Farms. Over the years, Tricia has worked as a tour guide for school groups visiting the farm, manager of our Baby Animal Barn, and instructor of our ever-popular Barn School class called We Love Chickens!

At the school, Tricia has volunteered in many ways, including running the school garden, Blackbird Paradise, as well as the school’s Good Eats program, which teaches children about nutritious foods and introduces them to new fruits and vegetables.

Tricia, whose two daughters attend Voorheesville’s Clayton A. Bouton High School, is well known and respected by the school’s students, parents, teachers, and administrators and throughout our community.

During these uncertain financial times, Tricia’s professional skills will make her an invaluable asset on the board. Tricia, a certified public accountant, worked for 17 years as the chief financial officer for the Ulster Savings Bank where she managed a staff of 25 and $600 million in assets.

She went on to serve as controller for New York Independent System Operator, a not-for-profit corporation responsible for operating the state’s bulk electricity grid, administering New York’s competitive wholesale electricity markets, conducting comprehensive long-term planning for the state’s electric power system, and advancing the technological infrastructure of the electric system serving the Empire State.

On the homefront, Tricia has attended nearly every meeting of the school board and its various committees over the past decade and has served as a vital conduit keeping our community informed. Tricia is open-minded, collaborative, and has deep empathy for both families and teachers. These personal characteristics combined with Tricia’s impressive work ethic and high-level skill set in the arena of budgeting and finance will make her an invaluable school board member.
