Motorcyclist seriously hurt
GUILDERLAND A motorcyclist was badly hurt on Wednesday when he lost control of his bike, according to Guilderland Police.
Ronald J. Szarlowicz Jr., 46, of Fultonville was headed west on Route 20 at about 11:35 a.m. when he tried to stop at the traffic light at the intersection with Dunnsville Road (Route 397).
“There were other vehicles stopped and it appeared that the motorcyclist was avoiding a collision with the other stopped vehicles when he lost control,,” said a release from the Guilderland Police Department. “No other vehicle was involved in the collision.”
The police said that Szarlowicz sustained serious head injury and was transported to Albany Medical Center.
Last night, a spokesperson for the medical center said the hospital didn’t have Szarlowicz’s name listed, which means that he either didn’t want his name listed or he is not a patient there.
In addition to the Guilderland Police, the Pine Grove Fire Department, the Altamont Rescue Squad, and a Guilderland medic responded to the scene.
