Spirit of community for Memorial Day was palpable

To the Editor:
Thank you Altamont!

The Altamont Parade Committee is grateful for the wonderful support for our parade from the community at large.

This was by far our best attended event and the spirit of the onlookers was high, whether it was cheering on our Grand Marshal Robi Whitehurst, joining in on “Proud to be American” with String Theory, or group singing the national anthem with the mayor, the spirit of community was palpable.

So many collaborated to get this job done with little notoriety — this volunteer team is aptly named Parade Committee, but individually graced with the talents of Bob Freeman, Tresa Matulewicz, Sandra Serafino, Chris Gaige, and Jeff Perlee. When you see them around, please thank them for all their time and efforts.

Our sponsors this year are Troy Miller and CM Fox, and Lindsey Giagni with Giagni State Farm. Thanks to Bella Fleur for donating gorgeous corsages to our Gold Star Mothers, to the Altamont Fire Department for yummy hot dogs, and to Stewart’s for cooling us off with ice cream. What a generous village!

Of course, all the marchers and float creators, and parade participants are so very appreciated —and we hope to see you all next year for our 2024 parade.
