Food drive shows how much the people in Altamont care about each other
To the Editor:
Thank you for your hard work and generosity during the Stamp Out Hunger food drive in Altamont!
Thank you, thank you, thank you — to the Altamont Post Office and the many letter carriers who worked tirelessly collecting all the food donated during the Stamp Out Hunger food drive. The Altamont Community Food Pantry received a tremendous amount of food that will truly make a difference.
This food will be distributed to those who are in need in our area, over the course of many months. Much appreciation to all the volunteers who also worked long and hard, unpacking, sorting and boxing all of the food. It was a long and exhausting day for many, but it was so worth it.
Of course, a huge thank-you to the residents of Altamont for making the food drive such a success! Your generosity was, once again, overwhelming. It definitely shows how much the people in this community care about each other.
The Altamont Community Food Pantry is a volunteer community service organization, providing supplemental food assistance to families who are unable to financially meet their daily nutritional requirements. Housed in the St. Lucy-St. Bernadette parish center at 122 Grand St., it is open on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 4 to 5 p.m.
The pantry serves people residing in the village of Altamont, Guilderland Center, and surrounding areas and is funded solely on donations and grants. If you or someone you know is struggling with food insecurity, please come by during those hours. If possible, bring identification and proof of residency. You may call the Church of St. Lucy-St. Bernadette at (518) 861-8770 if you have any questions.
