Come learn about how and why artists create

To the Editor:
One of the things I love about local newspapers is that they become a way to share local events in a world that seems like it’s hard to communicate in, even with all the technology we have today. Free community events are ways for neighbors to connect with neighbors in ways that create friendship and appreciation in an unfortunately divided world.

One such upcoming event was recently spotlighted in a feature article in the Enterprise [“Upcoming tour will give peek into local artists’ studios, free of charge,” April 19, 2023] and I’d like to thank the reporter and photographer for doing such an amazingly thorough job in their interview on April 20 about the upcoming Arts Around Greenville Studio Tour.

This is an example of community, volunteers, businesses, the library, and local groups coming together and sharing an opportunity for people to come enjoy the arts for free! On May 20 to 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., we invite the local and surrounding community to visit local artists within a 12-mile radius at their studios and group locations.

Come learn about how and why artists create, purchase some art, watch demonstrations, and maybe make a little something yourself! This is a great event for families, couples, friends, siblings, young and old!

Twenty-five artists would like to create community with you! Start at the North Barn in the George V. Vanderbilt town park off Route 32 in Greenville and get a map and find out who some of the artists are in your own backyard.  Now that's local news!

Thank you, Enterprise!
