DORMANSVILLE

On Thursday afternoon of last week the mothers of the pupils at the public school were invited to the class room, where they were entertained by the pupils and teacher, Mr. Ingalls, in honor of Mothers’ day, which came the following Sunday. A prominent feature was a “Mothers’ Pie,” in which all mothers present were kindly remembered. Songs and appropriate readings were rendered, and a light luncheon was served.

GUILDERLAND
On Friday evening of last week the people of the village were awakened at about 11:45 by the ringing of the school bell and the cry of “fire,” to find the M. E. church shed a mass of flames. Because of the heavy galvanized roof on the shed and the efficient work done by both men and women, and because there was no wind, the fire was kept from any of the surrounding buildings, although one of the barns on the Andrews farm was not more than five feet from the burning shed.

DELANSON

— Elton Rogers was struck by an automobile last Monday, but perhaps was more frightened than hurt. The car was driven by James McKinty.

— Clarence Resue, we are informed, has opened a shop in the building formerly occupied as a restaurant, where he will do cleaning and pressing of men’s clothing.

— Frank Johnson’s pupils held a sale of baked goods Saturday at William Enders’ store. The object of the sale was to raise money to pay for transportation to Albany and return. They had splendid success, realizing $18.75. Since then some who did not bake or buy have given money. Let others help the fund along. It is quite an education for the pupils to visit the Education building and other state and county buildings. The school at Quaker Street went some time ago, as did the High school department. Both these schools report having had a very enjoyable time.

VOORHEESVILLE

Edwin C. Coughtry, who was injured last week when his automobile was struck by a D. & H. freight train at Font Grove, in which accident his father, Whitbeck Coughtry of New Scotland, was killed, is slowly recovering at the Albany City hospital. Mr. Coughtry suffered injuries to one foot and also several ribs were broken.

NEW SALEM

All lot owners on Mt. Pleasant cemetery desiring their lots owed this season will please send two dollars to Treasurer Fuller Reid, Voorheesville, N. Y. R. D. 2, on account of the high cost of labor, the price being advanced from one dollar to two dollars.

VILLAGE NOTES

A new soda fountain has been installed in the store of Mrs. A. Secor on Main street. It is an eight-foot marble counter fountain, made by a firm in Albany. It is quite an addition to this busy candy and ice cream business, and will be appreciated by the public when the summer days come around.

THOMPSON’S LAKE

We had a variety of weather here last week. Showers, with thunder and lightning, and a snowstorm of three inches covered the ground Wednesday morning. Thursday night ice froze nearly a half inch thick. Some weather for May 10.
