Richmond is fiscally conservative experienced on library board

To the Editor:

In today’s world of politics, slander and misrepresentation seem to be the norm. However, I find it very disturbing to see it at the local level concerning a library board election. The situation I refer to is Mr. [Rich] Brackett’s letter to the editor last week characterizing Bryan Richmond as a longtime spendthrift.

I served on the library board with Bryan for several years and found him to be very conservative about fiscal matters concerning the library, including the bond issue for a new library, which was also incorrectly described by Mr. Brackett.

Bryan has a longtime attachment to the Voorheesville library, going all the way back to when he was a page there while still in high school.

The experience gained over the last several years as a board member cannot be replaced and will provide continuity for the board in the future.

I’m sure Mr. [Alan] Kowlowitz is very capable and qualified to serve on the board. Having said that, I would still prefer to see someone with current experience in that position carry on.
