Voorheesville parade honors all veterans

Voorheesville American Legion Post 1493 will be hosting the annual Memorial Day Parade on Saturday, May 26, at 10 a.m., honoring those who gave all for our freedom.

The parade will kick off from Circle Drive, proceeding down Maple Avenue and ending at the Voorheesville Legion Hall. a memorial ceremony will be held in Nichols Park immediately following.

Refreshments will be served and music will be provided until 3 p.m. The 43rd Annual Voorheesville Races will start immediately following the ceremonies for the children, 15 KM at 12:15 p.m. and the 3.2 KM at 12:25 p.m. There will be other various activities throughout the day, concluding with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.

The theme for this year’s parade is “United States Marine Corps.” World War II Navy veteran and long time resident of the Town of New Scotland Joseph Milton Albright will be the parade’s grand marshall. Any group not already contacted that wishes to march in the parade should call the Legion at 518-765-4712 after 4 p.m.
