Please join FFA for Dinner and a Movie
To the Editor:
Who will feed us?
The average age of the United States farmer is 60. Half of America’s farmland is going to change hands in the next 12 years. In the United States, 20 percent of our food is imported. This is the story of young people who are stepping up!
The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Future Farmers of America would like to invite the community to join us for the upcoming Dinner and a Movie fundraising event. This fundraiser for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo FFA chapter will involve a chicken or pulled-pork barbecued dinner and a showing of the documentary, “Farmers For America,” narrated by Mike Rowe.
After the movie, there will be a panel discussion featuring several Capital Region Farmers.
The event will be held at the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Secondary School cafeteria and auditorium on Friday, May 11, with dinner at 6: p.m. and the movie at 7 p.m. The cost for both the movie and dinner is $15, for the movie only, $5. Tickets will be at the door.
Why? To educate and come together on matters that involve our present and future agricultural community. The funds raised from this event will be used to provide opportunities to the members of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo FFA Chapter.
The Berne-Knox-Westerlo FFA would like to thank our community for all of their support and encouragement this first year!
