Stewart’s rezone was handled in a hurried fashion

To the Editor:

I support the Concerned Severson Neighbors who are challenging the process used in granting the zoning change of 107-109 Helderberg Ave. in Altamont from residential to central business district and the environmental impact application of Stewart’s Shops for expansion of its Altamont lot.

The process of approving exceptions to our comprehensive plan and zoning laws must be done correctly under the full letter and intent of the laws. I believe the process was improperly segmented and handled in a hurried fashion with many unanswered questions, inadequate preparation, confusion, and possible inadequate legal representation.
