It is time for a change, BKW board does not listen to residents

To the Editor:

My Name is C.J. McDermott, owner of McDermott Automotive. This letter is written in support of two new candidates for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board, namely Robin becker and Mackenzie Hempstead. It is time for a change.

My major concerns are:

— The school board does not listen to the residents;

— I do not believe that BKW should be investing $20 million to create a spectacular campus considering the serious decline in student population over the past 10 years;

— The construction costs are more than $1million over budget; and

— The operation of the school buses should not be outsourced.

The president of the BKW School Board is more than willing to pay for a campus style school despite a serious declining student population over the past 10 years from 1,040 students in September 2008 to 762 students in September 2018, a decline of 278 students.
