BERNE 

— The driver of a moving van, in trying to make Farwell’s corner Tuesday, misjudged his speed and ran into the corner of the bridge and the front of Hill’s store, breaking the glass in the windows. After straightening his load, he proceeded on his way. 

— Mr. and Mrs. Clyde L. Ball are spending the week in New York, where he is attending the Grand Lodge as a Representative of Berne Lodge F. & A. M. No. 684. 

 

Annual School Meeting 

Of Altamont District 

The annual school meeting of Union Free School district No. 7, town of Guilderland, was held at the Altamont school building Tuesday evening. About twenty qualified voters were in attendance, which is the average number for a school meeting in this district. 

William J. Crounse, who was appointed a trustee last year to succeed Walter Severson, resigned, was elected for one year to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Severson. The terms of Mrs. Eugene D. Gardner and Mrs. Elwood G. Blessing as trustees expire this year, and upon their declination of a renomination, Mrs. Albert Weaver and Mrs. Millard Cowan were elected to succeed them. 

 

DELANSON 

Raymond Hagadorn is having the house which he recently purchased of Ernest Harris, painted and papered throughout. A man from Troy is doing the work. 

 

VOORHEESVILLE
Daylight saving time is being observed by the business people and the village inhabitants generally, also the public school. 

 

VILLAGE NOTES 

— The bus between Altamont and Schenectady will be run on new time, in conformity with the schedule adopted in Schenectady. The through bus to Middleburgh will use eastern standard time. 

— Charles Vars, who has been employed as clerk at the Altamont Pharmacy for two years, has resigned the position and on Tuesday left for his former home at Alfred. Mrs. Vars, who is an instructor in the Elsmere school, will join her husband at the end of the school year in June. Martin Scharbach of Booneville now has the position formerly held by Mr. Vars. Mr. Scharbach is a graduate of the Albany College of Pharmacy, class of 1922. 

THOMPSON’S LAKE 

Charles Bradt, who works on the State road, had his hand and arm severely burned last week when the flames leaped up from burning tar, while cleaning his shovel. 

 

WESTERLO 

Rev. Donald Boyce will occupy the pulpit of the West Berne Reformed church Sunday, May 6th, at 2:30 o’clock.

Dolph Va Molle has just completed a journey across the continent in a Haynes Six auto in 14-½ days. Mr. Va Molle has been 9 years in the U. S. Service in France, Philippine Islands and Siberia. He intends to make his home this summer with P. James Howenstein.
