Join us for the Bub brothers’ old-time music

To the Editor:

On May 7, the Clarksville Historical Society will host a local group of musicians, Daylight in the Swamp, all with the same last name — yes, five brothers playing old-time gospel, folk and mountain music.

They have been playing together for over 50 years and, amazingly, they all still like each other.

They play an eclectic group of songs from ballads to spirituals, and from gospel to ’60s protest songs.  They have performed for audiences from 2 to 100,000 and they always have fun.

But they have the most fun at family gatherings, sitting around the living room, plucking the guitar, banjo, string bass, and playing the washboard and the harmonica. And, by the way, that last name is Bub and they grew up in Delmar.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Church at 1997 Delaware Turnpike in Clarksville.
