ACT bestows four grants for community projects

To the Editor:
The board of directors of Altamont Community Tradition is pleased to announce the recipients of our annual Community Grant program. The program is intended to expand our giving to a wider range of organizations who preserve our history and strengthen the village through engaging activities.

The grant program is funded through ACT’s events, fundraising, and activities such as the annual Festival of Lights.

These are the 2022 Community Grant recipients:

— Altamont Fair Historical Committee for the purchase of museum exhibit signs;

— Altamont Reformed Church for restoration of damaged walkway;

— Berne-Knox-Westerlo Future Farmers of America to support demonstration gardens at the Altamont Fair; and

— Altamont Free Library funding for children’s book-creation project.

Funded by event revenues and other generous gifts, these small grants (up to $500) are donated annually to projects of local not-for-profit organizations that align with ACT’s mission of historic preservation and/or strengthening the village community through engaging activities.
