Costco can’t happen soon enough

To the Editor:

More than three years ago, we had the first public-comment period for the proposed Costco. This past week, while unable to attend the public hearing at the town, I wrote a letter to the town in support and also wanted to weigh into the editor once again on this exciting project.

I think Costco has listened hard to the public comments and we have a great company coming to our town.

It has been great to see that the town of Guilderland has been so serious in its efforts throughout the environmental review process, along with the site-plan review and special-use permit consideration. This is a big project and very complicated; zoning and planning have worked overtime these past few years.

Let’s also applaud the people and businesses that are helping other smaller businesses make it through or start up here, like Rosenblum Development, Stuyvesant Plaza, Crossgates, and the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce.

Sometimes many people don’t understand that there is a give and take that goes both ways between larger and smaller businesses and they need each other to survive.

I am excited to see this project move forward and appreciate the work of everyone in local government to get the project where it is today. And I will say it again — Costco can’t happen soon enough.
