GUILDERLAND — For the second time this year, the Guilderland schools superintendent is informing residents that a Level 3 sex offender has moved into the district.

On Tuesday afternoon, Superintendent Marie Wiles sent an email linked to a bulletin about James Easley, who has also gone by the alias Rondell Smith, and was convicted in 2009 of first-degree sex abuse of a victim younger than 11.

Easley is designated as a Level 3 offender, the worst of three categories, which means he has to register for the rest of his life, reporting where he lives.

The bulletin, from the Guilderland Police Department, describes Easley as a 42-year-old Black man who stands 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 168 pounds.

His address is listed as 2360 Western Ave. in Guilderland. The state’s sex offender regtistry lists Easley as living in room 3 at that address.

In February, Wiles had sent out a notice about another Level 3 sex offinder, John E. McIntyre, moving to that same address, in room 5.

Two other sex offenders were listed on the state registry as living i at that same Guilderland address, 2360 Western Avenue, an old motel:

— Wyatt Bleau, a Level 2 offender, age 27, was convicted in 2018 for a 2017 rape involving two female victims known to him, ages 19 and 23, where a computer was used and choking was involved. He was sentenced to 18 months in state prison; and

— George Zirpoli, a Level 2 sex offender, age 74, was convicted in 2000 for sexual abuse in 1999 of two females aged 9 and 12. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation.

“Any time we receive this information regarding a level 3 sex offender, it will be circulated to all employees including principals, teachers, teaching assistants, monitors who issue visitors’ passes, bus drivers, custodians, playground monitors, and coaches,” said the notice from Wiles. “Our employees have been directed to notify their building principal or supervisor if they observe any suspicious person(s) in an area where children congregate.

“We are dedicated to the safety of our children while they are in school. All of our schools have strict sign-in/sign-out procedures for our students, and all visitors to our buildings are required to sign-in and show a photo ID. We encourage you to talk to your children about personal safety as well. Books and other resources are available from school counselors, if necessary.”

She also said that any questions should be directed to the Guilderland Police Department at 518-356-1501.
