Christian Women learn how quilting has changed

To the Editor:

The New York Capital District Christian Women’s Connection is sponsoring a Patchwork of Our Lives luncheon on Wednesday, May 15, at the Guilderland Elks Lodge at 3867 Route 146 (Carman Road) beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Reservations are necessary no later than May 10 and cancellations a must. Please call Nancy at 518-869-0642 or Carol at 518-869-5253 to reserve.

On the menu this month is a pork-loin dinner with an alternative choice of grilled-chicken salad. The cost is $16 inclusive (cash only please).

The Special Feature for May’s luncheon is Paula DeVries who will be giving a brief history of quilting and how this craft has changed, particularly over the last 40 years. She will discuss techniques popular today and will have quilts for display.

There will be special music with Peg Hart and the accordion. We’ll also have a special speaker, Dixie Westervelt, who will speak on Surprising Packages – Some Delightful, Some Devastating.

All are welcome — bring a friend or your significant other. They'll be glad you did! Nursery care is provided for free at the restaurant by reservation only for infants through kindergarteners – bring a bag lunch for your child.
