4-H holds dog-obedience class for kids

NEW SCOTLAND — Kids who are 8 and older may join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County for a six-week dog-obedience class designed for youth participants.

With or without experience, kids can sign up to help their family pets become better behaved and learn basic obedience exercises.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays from May 2 through June 13. Two classes will be offered, beginner and advanced.

Beginner classes will focus on new handlers and training the family companion, while the advanced class with highlight higher level skills and exercises needed to show dogs. The cost of the class is $40 for 4-H members and $50 for non-members.

Both 4-H members and non-members are encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Ashley Pierce by email at or by phone at (518) 765-3500. Space is limited.
