VOORHEESVILLE.

David Devoe wandered in here last Wednesday, having strayed from the Albany County hospital, walking most of the distance between Albany and this place. Walter Albright of the Grove hotel cared for him over the night and gave him breakfast and dinner. The commissioner of charities was notified and he asked Mr. Albright to send Mr. Devoe back on the next train.

LACK OF INTEREST IN FAIR MEETING

Very little interest was shown by the public in the hearing held by the Board of Directors of the Albany County Fair Association last Saturday for the purpose of discussing the advisability of holding another county fair at Altamont. Only five business men of Altamont attended, and only one of the five offered any support to the board.

With such support can any one blame the board if they decide to close up the fair for good? They certainly gave fair warning.

If a fair is held in 1920, the Board of Directors must secure the services of a general superintendent and a secretary. If these positions are not filled by good, capable persons by April 24, when the board will hold a regular meeting, the directors will take action to sell the grounds and buildings and the association will go out of existence.

KNOX.

The young men will serve supper at the leap year social held by the Loyal Daughters’ and Young Men’s classes of the Knox Union Sunday School in the Methodist church hall, May 1.

AQUETUCK.

Last week we had a variety of weather. On Monday we had a heavy thunder shower with very brilliant lightning and it was followed by colder weather and snow squalls. It was cold all the week, freezing the ground hard each night.

VILLAGE NOTES.

The Village Board are planning for the observance of Clean Up Week in Altamont beginning Monday, April 26. Clean Up Week will be observed throughout the state, in accordance with an announcement by the State Department of Health. Residents of Altamont may dump ashes, tin cans, and all kinds of rubbish, at a certain place on the village farm. This dumping ground will be designated by a sign with the words “Dump Here.” People are warned against dumping rubbish in any other place on the village farm other than the place designated. The dumping ground will be located near a large elm tree, near the road.
