Culinary and needlework skills celebrated at Knox Bicentennial

To the Editor:
The Town of Knox Bicentennial Celebration is featuring many events throughout this year. One of them will be a Bake-Off contest for pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, and canning preserves sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Helderbergs.

It will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, in the downstairs meeting room at the Knox Town Hall. Entry forms are posted at www.knoxny.org, or you can contact me at or at or 518-618-5376 for an entry form or to register by phone.

Also on the same day, April 30, in the main meeting room upstairs in the Knox Town Hall, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Knox Historical Society will present a show of Artistic Quilts and Fancy Needlework of Knox and its Environs.

Registration to participate in this show is open until April 16. Entry forms are posted at knoxhistoricalsociety.org. For more information, call Donna Gwin at 518-872-2161.

Both of these events are open to anyone who lives in Knox or surrounding areas who would like to participate. The public is encouraged to browse these displays and choose your favorite entries. We are all looking forward to seeing and being inspired by the work of some of our creative neighbors and friends!
