John J. Pieniazek
ALTAMONT — John J. Pieniazek, a jack of all trades who loved fishing with his children, died peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025 at his Altamont home surrounded by his family. He was 93.
“John was a jack of all trades from farming to mechanics to carpentry,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was an avid fisherman, which he loved to do with his children. In his later years he enjoyed playing bingo and became known as ‘Pa’ around the bingo hall.”
He is survived by his children, Jean (Keith), Rosie (Glen), Jody (Tony), Jenny (Billy), Linda, Kathy (Emmy), Billy (Sandy), Larry, and Jimmy (Marie). He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Esther, died before him, as did his sons, John and Mikey, and daughter, Carol.
Family and friends are invited and may visit with his family on Friday, April 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. with a prayer service immediately following in the Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery in Rotterdam.
