Honor Green and Clean Day in your own way

To the Editor:

It’s about the time of year for Altamont Community Tradition to announce the date of its annual Altamont Green and Clean. The event is usually one of the sure signs of spring’s arrival and a great time to mix it up in the dirt and mulch with your neighbors.

We all know this spring is not usual and will arrive without the ACT-sponsored event on April 25, but we still ask you to honor the intent of the day.

So, on April 25  at 9 a.m., go outside, stay the socially prescribed distance away from each other, and do some greening and cleaning of your yard or space. Maybe, out on one of the walks many of us are taking, admire our lovely town parks and green spaces.

Say hello to the town’s public-works staffers and gardeners and thank them for all they do to maintain our village.

Have a fine spring, stay safe, and be well.
