Welcome new director, Stempel, at Bowls for Books

To the Editor:

Berne-Knox-Westerlo students and members of the Berne Public Library community have been busy carving and glazing soup bowls for the third annual Bowls for Books event on Saturday, April 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the library’s community room.

Colleen Skiff, BKW art teacher, has made the bowls on her pottery wheel and has shared her expertise for this project. For a $12 donation to the Berne Library Friends ($10 for children 12 and under), you can buy your favorite bowl at the event and the Friends will fill that handmade bowl with the homemade soup or chili of your choice. Beverages will be available.

A Special Event this year will be our welcome to the library’s new director, Kathy Stempel. Special desserts will be served in Kathy’s honor.

Proceeds from this event will be used to purchase books on the BKW summer reading list and children’s books for the Berne Public Library summer reading program. We hope to see you at Bowls for Books so we can support our students and welcome Kathy Stempel.
