DUANESBURG — Dellene Carol Ogsbury Rowlison, a hardworking woman who loved raising flowers, died on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 81.

“She was unique,” said her daughter-in-law, Michele Rowlison.

Born in Altamont on Nov. 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hilda (née Settle) Ogsbury. Her father was a well driller and her mother was a homemaker. The oldest girl among six siblings, Dellene often looked after her two brothers and three sisters, said her daughter-in-law.

“She helped raise her siblings. She was always a hardworking person,” ssid Michele Rowlison.

A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Rowlison worked for 12 years at Campbell Plastics in Rotterdam. “She worked on the assembly line,” said her daughter-in-law. In her earlier years, she was a local Avon saleswoman.

She was an avid gardener, loving to tend to her flowers and her lawn. “She liked all kinds of flowers — gladiolus, daffodils. From what I hear, when the kids were young, the house was covered with petunias,” said her daughter-in-law. “She took horticulture classes at Cobleskill, and she sold flowers for a time.”

Mrs. Rowlison was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Duanesburg.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. “She liked photography,” said her daughter-in-law. “She took classes in that, too. She took pictures of her garden, and of her grandchildren when they were little.”
