‘What do we want our village to be 15 to 20 years from now?’
To the Editor:
The village of Voorheesville is undertaking a comprehensive planning process to chart our village’s future. Fundamentally, this process asks the question, “What do we want our village to be 15 to 20 years from now?”, and identifies strategies and specific actions that we can implement to realize that vision.
We want all village residents to have a voice in answering that fundamental question. On Wednesday, April 5, at 7 p.m. we will be holding a public meeting (workshop) at St. Matthew’s Church to gain residents’ insights. The workshop will be facilitated by Nan Stolzenburg, the village’s professional planning consultant. I encourage all village residents to come and share your ideas.
If you are unable to attend the public meeting, there will be other opportunities to provide input. This spring, the village will be asking residents to respond to a survey designed to help us better understand what people see as our strengths, and what we should improve.
Since December, a committee of volunteers has been working to advance the comprehensive-planning process, including meeting with business owners and cultural groups that are connected with the village. We’ve gained great insight and are off to a very good start.
We want to hear from everyone who has ideas: What you love about the village, what you see as opportunities to strengthen our community, how we can best honor the village’s wonderful history and plan for a vibrant future.
I hope to see you on April 5!
