What is the game plan for old D&H rail overpass?

To the Editor:
I wonder if and when Albany County residents will ever see replacement of one of Slingerlands' best-known eyesores/ road hazards — namely the massive old D&H rail overpass of State Route 85 New Scotland Rd — with a safe and modern structure designed to carry the Helderberg-Hudson rail trail.

Perhaps the County could provide residents with a comprehensive explanation on where the project currently stands? Repeated allusion to "delay due to on-going litigation" is getting old [“Truck stuck under rail bridge — yet again,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 17, 2021].

What litigation? With whom? Is the county working with relevant state and local officials to get things moving? What is the game plan?
