Dance-a-thon fundraiser a success

To the Editor:

The Friends of the Voorheesville Playground would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone that helped make last Friday’s dance-a-thon fundraiser a huge success!

The Voorheesville Elementary School Student Council and their advisor, Kelly Lendrum, deserve special recognition for all of their hard work planning and running this event They did an amazing job and ensured that the kids had a great time and the night ran smoothly.

We would also wish to thank the generous community businesses with donations that  kept over 200 dancers well fed:  Stewart’s Shops donated ice cream and fixings for sundaes, and Jaycee’s Pizza Depot, Smith’s Tavern, Pizza by Dominick, and Brick House Pizza provided pizzas.

The help and support of the Voorheesville Community and School Foundation has been critical to our efforts so far and that was certainly the case for the dance-a-thon.

Thanks to the hard work of our students and generous donations from many of you, our fundraising effort was a great success — and even moreso with a $15,000 matching donation from the VSCF.

We are grateful to the community for your support and especially to the kids of Voorheesville Elementary School who worked hard to spread the word about the need for a new playground. For more information on how you can help with the playground, please visit our webpage: www.voorheesvilleplayground.org

Thank you.
