Dick Rapp’s vision guided the creation of our library

To the Editor:

Congratulations to former Westerlo Supervisor Dick Rapp on his recent retirement. Dick served the people of Westerlo for 50 years and oversaw the modernization of the town’s infrastructure.

Of his many accomplishments, we want to acknowledge Dick’s vital role in establishing the Westerlo Public Library. Forty years ago, Dick’s vision and leadership guided the creation of our library.

Under his governance, the library was granted a charter from the State Education Department, trustees were appointed, bylaws were created, and a building that had neither heat nor plumbing was transformed into a facility that today is one of the town’s treasures.

The Library Board of Trustees will mark Mr. Rapp’s service by adding an honorary brick with his name to our memorial sidewalk. We thank him for his unwavering support of the library over the years, and wish him the best in his retirement.
