Add your ghost story to our book

The cover design for a book of local ghost stories is already set.

To the Editor:

We are seeking submissions of true local ghost stories from Altamont Enterprise readers for an intriguing book!

Do you have a ghost story from Altamont or the surrounding communities and Hilltowns — a family tale handed down through generations, a personal brush with the supernatural, or have you been told something by a friend?

We’ve asked around and most say yes! We’ve discovered that Altamont’s old Victorian houses, the ancient farmsteads in the surrounding countryside, and the unique history and landscape of our area hold many stories — some really creepy, some truly wondrous — that are just aching to be told.

We are assembling a book titled “True Ghost Stories from Altamont & Surrounds” to preserve these tales and we hope to publish by late summer. A donation will be made to the Altamont Free Library from the sale of each book.

Send your stories to to add yours! We can post your story anonymously too, if you prefer, and we will not be printing addresses of hauntings. By submitting, you agree to publication and any necessary editing.

We have so many interesting stories already! Please add yours to this fascinating collection.
