New staff for the Grand

GUILDERLAND CENTER — The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Guilderland, a 127-bed nursing facility that provides rehabilitation and nursing services to patients who require either short- or long-term nursing care following hospitalization, has made three new appointments:

— Amber Acosta has joined the Grand as human resources coordinator. The Newburgh native processes payroll, helps employees with employment-related concerns, and follows up on departmental staffing needs. She formerly served as a junior recruiter with Classic Westchester employment agency where she provided staffing for large medical groups and hospitals. She is a graduate of the State University of New York College at New Paltz with a degree in industrial-organizational psychology;

— Dan Hoose of Rotterdam was named director of recreation. He is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising recreation services to stimulate customers to have fuller and richer lives. He began his career in the health-care field more than 20 years ago and worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years. He is a graduate of the adult practical nursing program at the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

— Simone Westerman of Albany has joined the Grand as a social worker and will maintain open communication between residents, staff, and families, as well as connect residents with community resources. She formerly served as a research associate at a survey research firm located in the Capital Region. She holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from The College of Saint Rose in Albany and is completing her master’s degree in social work from the University at Albany.
