Help keep Fairview Cemetery a well-maintained resting place

To the Editor:

The Fairview Cemetery is currently conducting its annual fund drive. The cemetery relies on donations to continue maintaining and improving the grounds to remain operational as a private cemetery. In 2019, with the assistance of many, much-needed work was accomplished, including improving drainage, enhancing roadways, and cutting back overgrowth along the property lines.

The cemetery is a not-for-profit cemetery; therefore your donations are completely tax deductible. Donations may be sent to Post Office Box 751, Altamont, NY 12009. We are able to provide you with a letter for your tax records upon request.

Lastly, I would like to thank Sylvester Schlitz, who stepped down from the position of president this past summer, for his 24 years of dedicated service. In addition to being president, he also spent countless hours volunteering his time as grounds superintendent, working at the cemetery. Thankfully, Syl has agreed to stay on as vice-president and his experience and guidance will continue to benefit the cemetery.

We thank you for your past and continued support in helping us keep Fairview a well-maintained resting place for loved ones and visitors. Without your help it would not be possible.
