Donations allow Gas Up to purchase property

To the Editor:
I was just following up on our purchase of the land [“Gas Up seeks donations to buy its own real estate,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 6, 2020].

We raised $41,000 out of $65,000 so far and are able to purchase the land. Our original goal was to collect $30,000, which we did but would like you to know that we are still collecting to help us pay off the mortgage.

We had donations from our community members and only about five businesses. Goes to show how much we mean to the community.

This was a challenge facing COVID but community means everything. Now our new challenge we are facing is having the Gas Up during COVID. Hope to see you at our show.

Donations for the land purchase may be mailed to: Hudson-Mohawk Pioneer Gasoline Engine Association (HMPGEA), care of Jonnie Jo Beretz, 1124 Turnbull Road, Delanson, NY 12053.

Thanks again for your help.

Editor’s note: For five decades, The Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the Pioneer Gas Engine Association has held its annual Gas Up show — an exhibit of antique engines — on seven acres in Gallupville that it now will purchase.
