The Helderberg Quilt Barn Trail includes this quilt belonging to Vicki Cupernall.

To the Editor:

You may have noticed the beautiful quilt barn squares on the sides of barns in our area. A barn quilt square is made of large pieces of painted wood, put together to look like a quilt, and then hung on the exterior of barns, garages, and stores, or attached to posts.

The Knox Historical Society is working to reactivate the Helderberg Quilt Barn Trail and map. This is a driving tour of Quilt Barns in the towns of Knox, Berne, Westerlo, and Rensselaerville.

Photos of quilt barns may be found at Helderberg Quilt Barn Trail Facebook page. When the Helderberg Quilt Barn Trail is updated, our trail and map will be found on our website at http://www.knoxhistoricalsociety.org/helderberg-quilt-barn-trail-intro.html.

If you have a quilt barn square located in one of our Hilltowns, and you are not presently on the tour and would like to be included, please phone me at 518-872-2161 or email me at khsalbcounty@gmail.com.

If you have noticed a new quilt barn in your area, please email me and I will contact the owner. We would love to include more quilt barn squares in our tour!
