VILLAGE NOTES 

— The village primaries of the Republican and Democratic parties, for the nomination of candidates for offices to be filled at the next village election, will be held at Makely’s hall, Maple avenue, on Monday evening, Feb. 19th, at 8 o’clock. All voters are cordially invited to attend regardless of their party affiliations, as politics does not enter into our village government. 

— Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Mynderse intended leaving for Florida on Thursday, but on account of the sudden illness of Mrs. Mynderse the trip has been postponed for a few days.

 

SOUTH BERNE 

— Three young men, intent on spending their holiday, started from Schenectady on skis. One thought he would take a little longer journey than the others, and passed through our village Saturday afternoon, intending to meet his comrades somewhere between East Berne and South Berne, on the state road. He had traveled about thirty miles. 

— E. J. Carl is champion in raising lambs. He has six sheep with eleven little lambs. 

 

DUANE 

Miss Felicitas Rabe, who has been spending a year in Germany, is now at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rabe. 

 

NEW SALEM 

Through the kindness of Harold Higgins and our school teacher, Miss Cleveland, the school children enjoyed a sleighride last Thursday afternoon. They stopped at Voorheesville where they were served with refreshments. Many thanks to Miss Cleveland. 

 

WEST TOWNSHIP 

— Jennie Clevesis is the proud possessor of a fine little black pony. 

— Dewitt Bell intends to build a bungalow on his bee farm in the spring. 

 

SOUTH BETHLEHEM 

Our school has been closed for a couple days on account of not having any coal.

NEW SALEM, SOUTH END 

— Nearly every residence in the South End has a radio, and they are very much enjoyed by all who have them. 

— Alexander Flansburgh attended the dinner given by the Republican organization of Albany county, at Albany Monday evening, Feb. 12th. The dinner was held on the birthday of one of the best, greatest, and most honored men this work will ever know, and with the memory of such men as Lincoln ever with us it should be an inspiration to always do the right in all things. Mr. Flansburgh was one of three honor guests at the dinner who could boast that they had voted for Abraham Lincoln.
