We’ll distribute food to over 450 families at BKW on Feb. 18

To the Editor:

I am the Director of the Capital District Area Labor Federation which represents 133,000 union members and their families in the 11 counties around Albany. Since last May, we have been working with a wonderful coalition led by Catholic Charities and the Regional Food Bank.

This coalition has done over 75 mass food distributions all over our region and fed thousands of families. We are holding one on Feb. 18 at Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District. The BKW Teachers’ Association is also co-sponsoring.

We start at 8 a.m. with the food truck arriving for volunteers to sort and put in bags and boxes. We open the doors at 9:30 a.m. for the cars and walk-ups to get their food. Masks, gloves, and social distancing are always used …

We will have food for 450-plus families.
