Bosworth should take note of what is best for the town and not what is best for himself

To the Editor:

After reading the article concerning the no-show position held by town Democratic party chair, David Bosworth, I felt compelled to take action.  During a portion of 2014 and all of 2015, I was a member of the Environmental Conservation Advisory Council.  It was made clear to me during my first meeting the expectation was members were to attend monthly council meetings as well a Saturday morning site visits held following the monthly council meeting.

I recall being told by the chair of the council that, at the time, Supervisor Kenneth Runion checked the attendance report for each member of the council. In January of 2016, I was not reappointed to the council although I would have been happy to continue my service to the town.

I can only assume the fact I am not enrolled in the Democratic Party had much to do with the fact I was not reappointed. I can also say, if I had remained on the council, I would have not sat by idly while taxpayer funds were provided to a member of the council who was not attending meetings regularly.  As a resident and business owner in the town of Guilderland, I expect our elected and appointed officials to be responsible stewards of the monies paid by our residents and business owners for government services.

For Supervisor Peter Barber to make excuses for the David Bosworth’s failure to regularly attend council meetings as expected and required is disgraceful and, from my perspective as a retired law-enforcement officer, makes him complicit in Bosworth’s potential criminal behavior.

Accepting monies for a job you do not perform is theft. In this case, accepting $1,508 without performing any real service is felony grand larceny here in the state of New York.  While I am sorry to hear of David Bosworth’s health issues, he should take note of what is best for the town of Guilderland and not what is best for himself.

Apparently Democratic machine politics are alive and well in Guilderland.
