Zena B. Higgins

MEDUSA — Zena B. Higgins — a wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family — died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was 58.

She was born in Catskill on July 25, 1963 to the late Gordon and Ruth Waldron Shaver. She was raised in Westerlo and graduated from Greenville Central School.

After she married Anthony P. Higgins, the couple moved to Florida in 1986. In 2002, they moved to their current home in Medusa.

Mrs. Higgins worked at Greenville Central School until 2014, and was currently working as a service writer for Greenville Saw Service. She also worked at Zoom Flume in the summers.

“Zena enjoyed riding motorcycles, being with her family, spending good times with her friends, and loved her pets and animals,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Zena B. Higgins is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony P. Higgins; by her children, Dominick Higgins and his wife, Brittany, and Mackenzie Higgins and her fiancé, Nicholas; by her grandchild, River Higgins; by her siblings, Kayette Ferraioli and her husband, George, Doyle Shaver and his wife, Melony, and Marla Shaver; and by many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Gordon and Ruth Waldron Shaver, died before her, as did her brother, Blaine Shaver.

Her body has been privately cremated. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a humane society of one’s choice.
