GCRG to hold solar forum

To the Editor:

I am writing to announce that the Guilderland Coalition for Responsible Growth will be hosting a public forum discussion about alternative/renewable energy with a focus on solar farms at the Guilderland Public Library on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.

As we all know, there is increased development in the entire area with respect to solar energy as evidenced by what is happening in Guilderland and neighboring towns. Our intent is to openly discuss this topic in an effort to be more educated and aware of various alternatives before they become contentious as they have been for other towns.

Some of the issues that we will discuss include will include:

— Density of solar farms and comprehensive/master plan;

— How to meet the increased demand to switch to renewables to fight global climate change, and Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) programs;

— Rooftop solar versus solar farms; and

— Taxes and incentives for alternative energy.

We hope to see everyone there.
