Berne teen arrested for forcible touching

John D. McIntyre

BERNE — An 18-year-old male has been charged with forcibly groping a 17-year-old female, police say.

The 17-year-old was forcibly touched by John D. McIntyre at his home on Long Road in East Berne on Friday, Jan. 11, said Albany County Sheriff’s Inspector J.T. Campbell. Campbell said that McIntyre and the female know each other.

McIntyre could not be reached for comment.

The 17-year-old told police that McIntyre “started to forcibly touch [her] intimate body parts,” according a police report.

She called police later that evening, and, after police investigated for a day, McIntyre was arrested at his home Sunday night by the sheriff’s office, said Campbell.

McIntyre was charged with forcible touching, a misdemeanor, and was arraigned in Berne Town Court by Judge Alan Zuk on Sunday. He was released on his own recognizance with an order of protection issued in favor of the 17-year-old. McIntyre is due to return to the court on Feb. 12.
