The return of the Knox Winterfest with something for everyone

The Knox town park, along with the town hall next door, will be the site of Knox Winterfest 2024 on Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m.

To the Editor:

You may be aware that in the past the Town of Knox Youth Council held a modest winter festival.

As the new Knox youth coordinator, I wanted to bring back this fine tradition.

I especially wanted to involve and showcase as many other organizations, groups, folks as I could.

So we will be having the chili cookoff contest as well as a return of the cardboard sled racing.

However, I have reached out to local libraries — in Altamont and Berne — and they will be doing stories and crafts in our community room, downstairs in the town hall.

There will also be a table there from the historical society whose members will also offer tours of the Saddlemire Homestead.

The Kiwanis will be offering hot cocoa and s’mores.

Our town historian, Lou Saddlemire, will be giving a talk upstairs in the town hall as will Professor Gary Kleppel of Longfield Farm, who chairs Knox’s agricultural council.

I have reached out to fire departments and ambulance squads and others as well.

As a subscriber to The Enterprise, it is my hope you will be present to record and capture the goings-on. If you could mention the details in the paper that would be great.

Knox Winterfest 2024 will be on Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Knox town park’s lower parking lot pavilion as well as the lower level of the town hall for library and historical society events and the chili cook-off. The talks will be on the upper level of the town hall.
