A one-of-a-kind person who truly cared about many things

To the Editor:
My sincere thanks and gratitude for how you have treated me and my husband, John Wolcott, over many years. He died in August of last year and you mentioned him in your “Legacies of Love” editorial in the Dec. 28 edition.

You have always been so kind and caring towards John. I remember he would submit hike notices for Save the Pine Bush once a month and you would always publish them. Sometimes you would do a separate article on them as a feature.

John submitted many other articles to you also, which you kindly published. One that comes to mind is your front-page feature of a map he drew and his article about Dutch barns in the Guilderland area.

Melissa has always been accentuating the positive in everything John was active in and I know it really encouraged him to have a newspaper editor do this. We always got The Enterprise every week and saved them diligently as references.

These have since been stored at the State University of New York at Albany archives for anyone to view.   I am so grateful that you appreciated John.

He was a one-of-a-kind person who truly cared about many things. Thanks so much for how you treated him these many years; and now, even after his death. May God bless you richly.

Editor’s note: Serendipitously, John Wolcott’s mapping of and writing about Dutch barns in Guilderland is featured in this week’s Enterprise editorial. His work lives on.
