Katherine J. ‘Kit’ Schryver
WESTERLO — Katherine J. “Kit” Schryver, a teacher’s aid and mother who liked to garden and cook, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. She was 61.
She was born in Albany on Aug. 6, 1955 to the late Charles and Sadie Skalski Rzany. She was raised in Voorheesville before spending most of her life in Westerlo.
She married William H. Schryver III on July 29, 1977. She worked as a teacher’s aid at the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School for 30 years, having just retired at the end of June 2016.
“Kit enjoyed gardening, cooking, and camping,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She liked flowers of all types and absolutely loved dogs.” She especially loved her “grand dogs,” Molly and Emily, her family wrote.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Schryver; her children, William H. Schryver IV of Grand Gorge, Christine Theresa Schryver of Bend, Oregon, and Cheryl Lynn Schryver of Seattle, Washington; her siblings, Dorothy Deleskiewicz and Steve Rzany, both of Voorheesville; and her many nieces and nephews.
Her parents died before her, as did her sister Carol Dickson, in May 1016.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Cunningham Funeral Home. Mourners may post condolences online at ajcunninghamfh.com.
